About the project
The increasing demand for secure, high-capacity data communication is driving the development of new technologies that can overcome the limitations of traditional radio frequency (RF) communication. Laser satellite communication offers a promising alternative, enabling significantly higher data rates, improved security and more efficient use of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Laser Delta is a national innovation programme within NXTGEN Hightech that aims to establish the Netherlands as a global leader in laser satellite communication technologies. Bringing together industry, knowledge institutes and government, the ecosystem accelerates the development, industrialization and commercialization of key technologies required for future optical communication networks. By combining expertise across the complete value chain, Laser Delta contributes to strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty while creating new opportunities for economic growth and innovation.
Objectives
Laser Delta focuses on developing a complete Dutch ecosystem for laser satellite communication. The programme brings together technology developers, system integrators, and end users to accelerate innovation from research to commercial deployment. Its ambitions include enabling secure, high-capacity communication networks, strengthening the Dutch high-tech industry, and creating new economic opportunities through collaboration and industrial innovation.
