Behind the scenes with RTV Oost’s ToekomstMakers

We recently had the opportunity to take part in the second episode of ToekomstMakers, the RTV Oost innovation series that highlights the people, companies, and technologies shaping the future of the Twente region.

To provide viewers with a broad introduction to the local photonics ecosystem, RTV Oost also visited Novel-T and PHIX Photonics Assembly. Together, we helped showcase how collaboration between companies, knowledge institutes, and innovation organizations is driving the continued growth of integrated photonics in Twente.

RTV Oost in Twente

A look inside LioniX

As part of the episode, our CEO, Arne Leinse, welcomed the RTV Oost team to our headquarters in Enschede and the shared MESA+ cleanroom. Together, we took viewers behind the scenes to explore how photonic chips are designed, fabricated, and transformed into fully integrated modules for a wide range of applications.

From wafer-scale fabrication to advanced photonic integration, the episode demonstrates how technologies developed in Twente are moving beyond the research lab and into real-world solutions in fields such as healthcare, communications, sensing, and instrumentation.

Showcasing innovation in Twente

One of the strengths of the Twente photonics ecosystem is the close collaboration between industry, research, and entrepreneurship. By highlighting several organizations active within this ecosystem, ToekomstMakers helps make integrated photonics more accessible to a wider audience while showcasing the innovation taking place in our region.

We would like to thank RTV Oost and the ToekomstMakers team for the opportunity to share our story and help introduce integrated photonics to viewers across the region.
